“Diane,” Michael said, strength in his tone, “would you like to join me for lunch?”
She looked at him, a thin smile on her lips and a twinkle in her eyes. “Why Michael, I think that would be splendid. Where shall we go?”
“I was thinking we could go to Portafino’s. Its not too far away and has excellent food.” He smiled and grabbed his coat.
“And it is perfectly dark in the middle of the day,” she said with a smile. Michael started to raise his hands in defense when Diane stopped him. “I think it sounds like a marvelous idea.”
