The door to the office shut and Michael’s back went ramrod straight. If he was going to be in trouble he was going to take it like a man. He took a deep breath and was pleased to smell Diane’s perfume rather than the overpowering cologne of the HR manager. His shoulders relaxed and he sighed audibly.
She stepped behind him and placed her hands on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, but I had to go freshen up before we got back to work,” she whispered. Her left hand slid down his chest and into his shirt pocket. “Keep these safe.” She walked back around the desk, sat down and went back to work.
